MURAL at Alder Hey Hospital, warns children of the danger of fire during 999 Week

Alder Hey held a 999 Week at the hospital as part of its public health strategy with the emphasis on Accident Prevention and Personal Safety.  As part of this week a large mural of Phil the Fire Engine was unveiled, based upon the children's book by former fire man Dave Fanning.

Dave donated the mural to Alder Hey where it hangs in the burns clinic.  Many burns victims attend for follow ups and possible laser treatment.  Dave Fanning, said "I am absolutely delighted that Alder Hey has chosen to display my work as they carry out fantastic work in this area.  The target age group for Phil the Fireman is 4 to 7 year olds and this kind of setting is perfect to try to get thsoe important fire safety messages across."
Moya Sutton, Executive Nurse at Alder Hey said "As part of our public health strategy we are really trying to get safety messages across to children while they are in our care.  We are thrilled to be able to work in partnership with Dave in this way and it is a wonderful way to get across those all important safety messages in a positive way that children will relate to".

The mural was unveiled on Friday 30th November in L1 Burns Clinic, Alder Hey Hospital, Liverpool.

Author Dave Fanning recently did a book reading at Borders Books, Speke, to some very interested listeners.  June 07
